What is the best way of powering these cards? The 4870's each take two 6 pin connectors. The 620 only has two 6 pin ports each with one connector. Enough for one card. I have used one of the regular molex based power taps with molex to 6 pin adapters to power the second card.

It seems to be working OK but should I use one 6 pin to each card and one adapted molex to each card - or doesn't it make any difference? I am also concerned with the total load on the PSU.

In addition to the 2 video cards, I am running two hdd's, a dvd burner, 5 1 gig memory sticks, and oc'd E7200 with an arctic 7 freezer pro cpu cooler and 3 120 cm case cooling fans. Am I asking too much from this power supply?

:welcome: to the forums!

It won't matter how you do it, they are all on the same rail since the power supply only has one 12v rail.

You could do that with a HX520.

I borrowed a buddy's computer which has the same cards and my PSU ran them without a problem. (I wasnt about to use it with the PSU he had and let it die because of that PSU in my hands)

thideras, Thanks for the welcome. Also thanks for the information on this being a single 12v rail PSU. With that, it makes sense that it wouldn't really matter where the cards are connected.

nvidiaOCmaster thanks for sharing your experience. I was getting a little worried when I was rapidly running out of power connectors.

Check here (http://www.houseofhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71027). You can get free 8-pin PCI-E cables if your PSU didn't come with them, and each cable is Y-shaped so you have dual 8-pin connectors on each cable. You get 2 cables, so if each card needs dual 8-pin connectors, each card will only require one cable.

If you have nothing to add to a discussion besides useless bickering, please refrain from posting.

Hi guys.

Do you know if this Antec 500 will run a 4850 6 pin graphics card?

It should. According to Antec (http://www.antec.com/connectors.php?ProdID=23500&SetZone=en), it has a single 6-pin PCI-E cable.

Well here's some thumbs.
I already have the PS, so if it works, I won't need to get another:clap:
