so tempted on this one. I need a board that will clock this Q9550... the P35 just won't cut it. But then I have to get a new 4gb memory kit of at least ddr2-1000 to keep pace.
Lookin at this OCZ which also has a discount code and rebate

Just ordered this mobo and a E8400 ($35 off combo), can't apply the promo code to a combo deal. Would have been a sweet deal lol.
darn....bought it on 10/1 from egg for 120 AR....anyone knows if egg would pricematch to itself?

Nope, but contact them, they may offer you store credit.

I got those same sticks just a couple weeks ago for $48 shipped AR from NewEgg. I got them cause they were basically the cheapest 4GB kit at the time. There in my file server right now running 800 5-5-5-18 at 1.8v. I have no need to push them.
I would offer to throw them in my main rig & OC them for you, but that would be a PITA w/ how I have everything set up right now.
My point is you might want to wait on a better deal to pop up on those sticks or similar.

there was a press release awhile ago that from asus where they said they would be dropping p45 prices accross the board. Expect to see this mobo around this price quite often. Also you should see other p45 boards like the p5q deluxe drop down a price braket

Why? Are they coming out with something new?

nothing that will provide significant competition to their current p45 lineup. The reason that they gave for cutting prices was rather bs if IIRC. They cited something to do with intels new i7 and that it is going to cut into their p45 sales so they droped prices to remain competative. However i7 and their respective chipsets wont replace 45nm c2d + p45 for over half a year to all but the non budget minded market. Even the enthusiast market might not jump to i7 initially due to ddr3 voltage issues
My take on it is that they want to gain even more market share and in doing so put some hurt on up and coming companies like biostar and foxconn.
