Hi guys.

Question, if the new update to Xbox Live allows installation of games, what is keeping people from sharing games? For example, say my friend has 5 games (he has the newest xbox live but he doesn't have a big enough harddrive to install the games, so he doesn't), But I have 60 gigs, so he never installs any of the games on his account, but I install his games on my account.

How would they keep this from happening?

You still need the disk in the drive to play the game.

oh alright, so whats the advantage of installing it to the disk? just a semi faster load time?

Yup. And to possibly lower the amount of pop-ins for texture. ( though, that could be a 100% gpu issue. )

Mass Effect has some pretty bad load times. The loading screens were hidden as elevator rides. And some of those elevator rides were LONG!

plus, if some games end up HAVING to be installed on the hard-drive, then that means the developers are able to put compression on a good chunk of the disc, allowing them to put quite a bit more content on their games.

As how I understood it. For installing to HD, it would use the DVD as a CD Check type deal. Everything or a vast majority of the game would or could run off the HDD. Which in turn would speed things up since it wouldn't be spinning the DVD all the time, AND, it wouldn't be nearly as noisy thanks to the HDD being used over the DVD drive.
