Anybody out there have problems with the K7S5A, I have seen alot. I am currently having problems with the onboard AC97 audio. I get sound but it does not work properly. When running windows media player with an audio cd it runs slow and is glitchy with what sounds like digital distrotion. I have downloaded numerous codecs and drivers with no luck. Have uninstalled and disabled driver in windows and CMOS. It runs distorted in games aswell, but does not seem to slow down in them so far. Any idea out there, The problem sounds alot like a irq problem but windows does not detec a problem.

Sorry, but post under the AMD Section as 90% of the Intel people won't be able to help you.

Post in the AMD Motherboards> ECS/Elite Motherboards or General Hardware.

Yea, a mod should move this thread, or repost there yourself. But anyway, is your system overclocked??? If you've used your FSB and overclocked your system, then that might explain things. I've never run into a board with integrated sound that took OCing very well.

The ECS/Elite have no overclocking option whatsoever.

The AC '97 sucks when it comes to overclocking i suggest buying a sound card, even if it is a cheap one it should still work better.

Thanks for the info, that's what I was thinking. A new sound card would probably be the best.
