im curious how i can overclock my athlon 1.2 to anything greater than 1.38, after that it will give me some disk read error and not boot, and after 1.4 it wont even post, i thought that i just upgraded it to the xp processor range(i have an abit kt7a)
Its not really a question that can be answered outright. You just have to fool around a bit w/ multipliers/voltages/FSB and find something that works for you.
and just fyi, it would've been better to put this into the AMD Processors section of the forum. Read the forum guidelines so the mods don't yell at you, and post your stuff in the apropriate sections. I'm sure a mod'll move this for you eventually
good luck, and Welcome to the Forums!!

Sounds like a piece of hardware is stopping your OC.
You could just have a dud batch for OCing also. What is your stepping? Mine is AYHJA0120MPMW
As you can see from my sig- my 1.2 @ 1.46 - stable and cool
I have tried as high as 1533. It posts, but crashes at XP logon. I will have to boost the voltage from 1.82 to 1.90 prolly.

Try increasing your vcore to 1.85. I have been able to achieve 1.4 with that setting.
