Im build a new pc and had a 2 questions.
1. I'm looking at getting a Valociraptor 300gb 10k HD. I've been told that it is best to have 2 HD and use one for your OS and the other for everything else. What is the benefits of doing that?
2. Would It be smarter to get 2 150 raptors? or would it be better to Partition a section of the 300GB HD for the OS? i

The only reason I like to keep my data on a separate drive is in case a failure occurs in an OS drive. That way, I don't have to clamor around trying to obtain data off of a failing drive. I'm sure there is a benefit to it, and someone will post it, because I am curious as well.

I can think of three benefits, although I'm not personally convinced that they are worthwhile...
1. Having your OS on its own drive will speed up many OS operations, such as booting, restarting, shutting down, etc.
2. You don't have to worry about messy install/uninstall files cluttering up your OS drive and slowing down your computer.
3. You can keep malware, virus scanners, uninstalls, or other such things from corrupting your OS installation which can cause a whole bunch of headaches.
If speed is what you're looking for, you could setup a RAID array with your velociraptors, or get a solid state drive for your OS :)
