Are you overclocked? Might be that your NIC is crapping out under a high PCI bus.

Could try reinstalling the driver for this card. Be sure to uninstall under Device Manager and then reboot before doing so.

As a last resort, if none of the previous two are, without a doubt not your problem, reinstall Microsoft Networking.

Looks directly related to a driver problem to me though (hence the error in the VxD).

i dont have an ethernet card :( i connect via USB, it could be the driver how would i go uninstalling it?just go to control panel/networking/ click on my cable modem and click remove?

how would i reinstall microsoft networking?

and another Q whats a good ethernet card?need one for some router activities..........

Just a reinforcement of what Jon said: bus speed might be too high if you are overclocking, and if not probably a driver- look for updated ones.

***simultaneous posts are a pain!***

Device Manager should be where you remove the cable modem- I'd check the manufacturers site for new drivers first though.

I've never worked with a usb connection, but it would seem that either the modem drivers or maybe usb drivers are the trouble.

i dunno my PC gets weird when i install drivers, at least USB ones like with my linksys usb adaptor all these crazy illegal operation boxes came up when i rebooted and once windows didnt load properly and had to go in there in safe mode and uninstall it

Maybe the problem lies in usb. What mobo do you have and have you checked for an updated bios?

Updated usb drivers might be the answer too.

i got sandra and it says my mobo is a tekram,( I know, i know i will upgrade soon.)

i know once i downloaded a BIOS update but didnt know how to install it, it was different file type than usual, and i cant find the file now anymore :(

and ive never updated the usb driver either, not really sure where to go for these things :(

The manual should give you the instructions, or all the info and files should be on the manufacturers site, as long as you can determine what model the mobo is.

lol instead of checking the manual i just checked to see if tekram.com was the site for it and it was :)

hey here is my mobo is this overclockable?
http://www.tekram.com/jumpers.asp?Product=P6L40-A4E

alright ive downloaded the BIOS update, so i can update that but i didnt see any USB driver update unless i missed , is it supposed to be on there?

I'm not familiar with the board, but it looks like you should be able to get something out of it- post in the Intel section for more help, but jumpers should get you at least a small jump.

As far as the usb: I didn't see any drivers there either, but check to make sure you are using an irq for usb in bios- I know that caused some trouble with early usb. The bios update may fix the whole trouble if you get lucky!

If not, I'd try going after the usb problems first: until you can install stuff with no errors I think the problem is there (and this isn't the right forum for usb:D )

Good luck!

alright i have no idea if my usb has IRQ or what IRQ is for that matter and what is the right forum fot usb and what should i ask?

IRQ is Interrupt Request ( or something- I used to know exactly:( )
Look on page 34 of the user manual (at least in the product documentation from the tekram site here (ftp://ftp.tekram.com/documentation/p6l40a4e/P6L40A4E_10.PDF)

As far as the forum to get help for usb, I'd suggest General Hardware, or maybe Intel Motherboards/Other Intel Boards (since Tekram isn't listed.)

BIOS updates are fairly easy, but if you screw one up you may need a new bios cmos chip...and at this point I'm getting tired! Time for bed. But there is a guide here (http://www.overclockers.com/tips120/index04.asp)

Check that out, and if you still aren't comfortable with it, and no one else is around, I'll give you a hand tomorrow, just pm me.
