A friend explained this game to me, and I was wondering if it was worth a purchase?

The maps are very, very, very, very, very large, lol. Its a team based game, so if your playing something like Q3A or UT, in which teamates arent as important, in T2 you cant just go running around and try to shoot ppl, your efforts must be coordinated in order to win, unless its a ffa or team ffa :D All i can say is, its different than most FPS. Try the demo first, if you like it then go for it.

Tribes2 won't work on my computer either and I'm positive it's xp. It was working fine till I upgraded. I read in some other forum that if you upgraded all your drivers it should work fine and since I need to do that for xp anyways i'm giving it a shot but I don't think it's going to work.

If anyone knows of a patch or something that fixes the problem I'd appreciate it if you let me know about it.

BTW Frost Byte what kind of error you get?

Tribes2 and XP get along just fine for me...2000 it didn't like, but seems to like XP.

For those of you who are getting errors, is it an unhandled exception?

I got that too when I first started with XP, I have an nVidia GeForce 2 MX video card. I downloaded the newest drivers from nVidia, and I was good to go. Worth looking in to. The default windows drivers just can't hack it. :cool:

EDIT: Yes, it is a worthwhile game to get. A much more skill based game than "who has the bigger gun" game. :D

Well, I just finished downloading the driver for my TNT2 card so I'll have to give it another try. I really hope it works.

BTW WHat's you all favorite rolls(sniper, base defense, flag runner,etc)?

teamplay and stratigy gofor tribes 2, great online community, much better then tribes 1, if you like a faster game, go for tribes 1. btw peeps, my name is dr. dolittle on tribes 1 and 2

I like doing two things, at least in renegades. Either base defense or just being a pain in the butt.

Being a pain in the butt is easy. Take an alien, turn invisible and go to their base and cattle prod them. After a while they really start getting nervous.

And as for me I'm a sniper, or atleast I was when I was playing all the time. If I got on the NinjaMod people dropped like flies. Well, I'm going to go play, BTW the names Zarco or Genn. Cya

I'm a light defender with a repair pack, or a defensive sniper. "Oh, look he got the flag. No, never mind. He didn't get two steps." :cool:

Glad to hear it worked for you! Look forward to sniping (ahem) playing with you! :D I'm not a mod player, I'm working on perfecting the base (like that'll ever happen). But I am a terror with a shocklance against heavy offense. :rolleyes:

LOL, we could have a slight problem as I'm an offensive sniper, actually I'm more of an annoyance to the defense then a threat. But given enough time I can take down quite a few heavies(or used to be able to, today was the first time I've played in a little under a year). Only lost a little timing luckily, so I should still be a threat. There are very few mods I like myself and usually don't play then but the NinjaMod is fun for an offensive snipe as the sniper rifle in the is a heck of alot better then the normal. Well, there's a Judge vs. Geezer going on tonight, circa 9pm Central on our tribe server. It's gonna be huge, and there are concerns about the server's capacity for 64 players. It's likely there will be open slots, and we really want to test the server. So come on over if you get the chance!

Personally, I'm not to impressed by the server so far. It's supposedly a dualie 700 with over a gig of ram, but the server laggs (and it's not due to pings) frequently. I'm fairly certain it's becuase the T2 ded server isn't multithreaded, but I could use a bit of help with that... What do you all think?

Personally I like Tribes 1 better than Tribes 2. And now that 5150 has left T2, it doesn't seem as good, even if Vanguard is still there. Big ladder for Tribes 1 and 2 is www.teamwarfare.com. I rarely play Tribes 2 anymore...

Look for me on T1 though, I am |DaH|JohnMcClane. I play in servers like Heaven, Hell, 5150's Competition East and West, Cheater's Wayside, etc. My clan is #11 on TWL right now, we got a match soon. I love T1. :beer:
