gonna build my pc tomorrow. Here are all of the parts i got. the overall price was around $1500.

LianLi PC68 Aluminum Case
Antec 400wat PSU
UNLOCKED Amd XP 1900+
Thermalright SK6 w/ 50cfm Delta 60mm
Epox 8kha+
512mb 2100 Crucial DDR w/ Thermaltake Active Cooling Kit
Western Digital 100 Gig HD w/ 8mb Cache
Gainward Geforce 3 Titanium 500 (this is gonna be fun to oc)
Soundblaster Audigy Xgamer
10/100 Nic
16x Pioneer Slot Loading DVD
24x Plextor (i know TDK has 32x out now but i like plextor bettor)
Floppy Drive
All of the cables are rounded silver cables (found on www.plycon.com)

All of this is to add on to my Klipsh 4.1's, 19" sony trinitron, ms intellimouse explorer 3.0, and ms egronomic keyboard pro (the one w/ the usb hub built in).

Should be a pretty killer system i think. I am going to try to take my 1900+ to 1.8 ghz or more. Hopefully i can do this even though this is my first time ever doing any real overclocking (right now i have a classic 850mhz amd athlon and i have it at 935mhz by increasing the FSB only.)

What do you think of that system?

I think you'll be lucky if your 8kha+ posts.

go here to config it:
http://www.amdmb.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=79836

you'll also prob need to do a vcore mod on the mobo to overclock the cpu that high (also at the link above)

I think you should have got an ltd-163 instead of a pioneer, but it doesn't matter to much.

"LianLi PC68 Aluminum Case"
way to much money

"UNLOCKED Amd XP 1900+"
best price performance ratio is prob the 1600+ because you can overclock it with your mobo to faster than the 1900+'s default settings

"Thermalright SK6 w/ 50cfm Delta 60mm "
good heatsink, loud fan

"512mb 2100 Crucial DDR w/ Thermaltake Active Cooling Kit"
not micron ram if it is a 512 mb stick and may give you troubles with overclocking, and the cooling kit is not needed as it doesn't really drop the temp more than 1 degree C

"Gainward Geforce 3 Titanium 500"
way to expensive. just get a gainware ti200 with 4ns ram and overclock it to faster than a ti500 with nvmax

"Western Digital 100 Gig HD w/ 8mb Cache "
again way expensive. a 60 or 80 gig d740x would have saved big bucks and got just about equal performance

"All of the cables are rounded silver cables"
not bad for air overclocking, but they are expensive and you can mod ata 100 flat cables to be round.

It is an awesome system, but way overpriced. You could have prob got a similar setup at the same speed for $600 less.

Definetly a killer system. as forgot that said, you could have saved money, but you get what you pay for. Overall a very nice system.

Lianli- got that because i thought it looks REALLY cool, comes w/ 3 panaflow fans whose rpm can be adjusted though a small swithch, and essentially has some of the nicest features any case has to offer. I read a few reviews of lianlis (i am sorry, i forgot which sites) and they talked about how everything is removable and makes it incredibly easy to install stuff. Also, since it is aluminum, the whole thing essentially acts as one giant heatsink which will allow for higher oc speeds.
unlocked 1900+ got this cause i wanted to oc my chip higher than w/ any other xp chip (other than the 2000+ which is way to expensive for me). I picked this chip up for $230.
SK6 w/ 50cfm Delta I could really care less how loud my system is cause i will hardly ever be running it over night. Also, the delta is supposivly one of the best fans out there.
Active Cooling kit It supposivly lowers temps more. And anyways, the lower the temps the better.
Gainward ti500 I got this cause i want the system to last for 3 years or more and i figure that if i overlcock this card, i will be able to reach much higher speeds than w/ a plain gf3 or a ti200. I got this for $300 which makes it the most expensive thing i bought.
WD100gig w/ 8mb cache I need 100gigs (i have a ton of movies... no i am not a warezer, i rip all of the dvds i rent from blockbuster onto my hardrive) so i figured, why not spend $30 more and get the 8mb cache version over the 2mb cache version?
Rounded cables It takes way to long to mod the normal cables so these were bought to save time and also to increase airflow. Also, i probably would not have gotten it nearly as well as the cables that i ordered.

Dont criticize every single thing he got, his system is awesome. Sure, he could have saved money, but the hardware would not look as pretty

Hmmm I should be jealous here where he'll be running a system 5x as fast as I will be running :D

Everything looks good except for obviously the cost but if you have cash that needs to be used dish it out baby!

lol... better watch how loud you say that. that's not totally legal, is it? i thought that was a-ok if you actually bought the dvd to back it up, but isn't the cheaper rental price for "monitored, limited use of the media"? just caught my eye :p

also, do you foresee that 2100 ram holding back your o/c'ing? i was under the impression that 2400/2700 was better when overclocking?

overall, that system looks killer. you've got me one-upped in a few places (quite a few :D ), i'm definitely jealous. good luck with it :)

First off, GREAT SYSTEM!

Just a quick question, did you buy that XP1900 already unlocked? or you are going to unlock it?

Seems like a stupid question, but I am curious. I would love to buy "unlocked" chips, cause I don't have the heart to mess with them--specially a $230 chip.

he's got an awesoem system, but I could never justify spending $600 more for the latest stuff and minimal improvement. I would much rather have 2 awesome computers.

like the main one would be:

365p-ve
8kha+ with vcore mod
or soletek ( just because my experience with the 8kha+ hasn't been the best)
unlocked athlonxp 1600+
overclocked winfast ti200 with 4ns ram to speeds greater than a ti500
24/10/40a plex
ltd-163
$10-15 Nic
256 2400 corsair ram
60 gig d740x
heatsink and fan $6-10
case $30
whole system about $825 with shipping from newegg.com

next system:

365p-ve
8kha+ with vcore mod
or soletek ( just because my experience with the 8kha+ hasn't been the best)
unlocked athlonxp 1600+
overclocked winfast ti200 with 4ns ram to speeds greater than a ti500
ltd-163
256 2400 corsair ram or 256 pc100 crucial
40 gig d740x
heatsink and fan $6-10
case $30
whole system from newegg.com about $700 with shipping

that is 2 systems with about equal performance for about the $1500 he spent on one system.

he said " I got this cause i want the system to last for 3 years or more and i figure that if i overlcock this card, i will be able to reach much higher speeds than w/ a plain gf3 or a ti200."
the ti200 overclocks a lot. the ti500 is already overclocked and doesn't overclock much more. and the geforce4 is comming in like 2-3 months.

his case is probably what I like the most about the more expensive stuff he bought. but I got a case for $20 that works great, so I know the over $100 he spent on it I could never do.

"also, do you foresee that 2100 ram holding back your o/c'ing? i was under the impression that 2400/2700 was better when overclocking? "

his ram could hold him back some on the fsb. 1 stick like overclocks to 160 stable. 2 to ?, and 3 sticks to 143. but I don't forsee any problem because he has an unlocked multiplier. He'll need to do a vcore mod and maybe hack the bios or something to set the multiplier above 12x.

I just thought I'd add that always get a 15% discount when you buy crucial ram. There is always a link out there, you just have to find it. Like right now it is here:

http://www.crucial.com/promo/index.asp?prog=qat

(and prob other places too)

but I'm pretty sure you will always be able to get a 15% discount as the old link used to be

Does this mean any Anandtech gets 15% off or like senoir and mods do?

no man it is an awesome system and I wasn't dissing on it.
I was dissing on the price for what he got though, but he was very smart for getting the price he did for those parts. I know people who would buy them at like compusa and prob spend like $2000. I'll comment on it now disregarding price.

"Thermalright SK6 w/ 50cfm Delta 60mm "
good heatsink, good high performance fan great for overclocking.

"LianLi PC68 Aluminum Case"
great for lan partys, sucks heat out, great for overclocking, looks cool.

"512mb 2100 Crucial DDR w/ Thermaltake Active Cooling Kit"
cool looking cooling kit, nice stick of ram leavind plenty of open slots for more ram (except win 9x/me cant use more than 512)

"UNLOCKED Amd XP 1900+"
only the best you can buy

"Gainward Geforce 3 Titanium 500"
only one of the best you can buy

"Western Digital 100 Gig HD w/ 8mb Cache "
the best ata hard drive in existance

"All of the cables are rounded silver cables"
some of the nicest looking cables there is.

I know for a fact i payed overprice on some of the stuff i bought. For example. I got my case and my powersupply from www.directron.com . I also got my DVD and Floppy drive from that site. I found my case for $20 less on pricewatch but i wanted to get the dvd and floppy drive from that site. Why? Because they offer to paint the drives silver for you so it will match your case. Pretty cool if you ask me. I know for a fact that on every part i did not pay $50 more than i should have. Those were the only three parts i payed overprice for. I searched everything else out on pricewatch and got the cheapest prices for everything (most of the stuff was on newegg)

I am going to use Win2k SP2 with my system cause i personally do not like winxp as much. I am running winxp now and i think it has too much bloatware, runs slower, and does not have that great drivers out. It is also f*cking expensive as hell if you wanna buy winxp pro full version! $300! Also there is wpa if you wanna buy it legally. I will probably get winxp in a year or so once they have a few service packs out for it. it is just not worth all of the problems for a few extra fps in games.

Jealous of your system... very nice. I wanted a better video card and an aluminum case, but I had to work on a budget.

Everything in my sig plus a 5 port USB card and a fairly cheap creative 2 speaker + subwoofer totaled about $1200. Monitor included! I still need a soundcard though. And I could still get a kick ass video card in the future. Also my roommate knows a guy at AMD (I work directly across the street from the plant here in Austin... looking at it through the window right now.) who can get XP 2000+'s for $20 each. He's supposed to hook me and my 2 roommates up with the CPU's for like $50 each. Nice!

Hoping the GF4 will be in the $300 range! And wishing memory prices would go down again.

Killer system Emericana.

for your soundcard, just get a audigy oem for like $50 dollars. It is just the card and the driver cd, none of the software thant makes the card more expensive
