Ok, is this cool or what,
My local computer store is pre-pimping 1.3GHz Durons to 1.5GHz right on the chip so when you plug the chip into the computer, it defualts to 1.5GHz
The Voltage is automatically forced to 1.85V for stability reasons.
The chip runs @ 15 x 100. Meaning a 15X multiplier is locked. Tomorrow, I'm heading over there to see how they locked the multiplier at 15X.
They begin sale of the systems starting January 21st!
System Specs:
Abit KT7E
1.5GHz Duron(tm) processor (1.3 accelerated and defualted @ 1.5)
256MB Micron PC133 CL2
ASUS nVidia Ge-Force 3 Ti 500
and more stuff...
That would be a very nice value system eh!
cheers

Good luck to them and their support department (if they have one)

From what I understand, the only warrenty is covered through the store it self. But I think its a year.
But anyway, thadt be so cool man, a real like 1.5GHz Duron.

Why don't they just set the multiplier on 11 and make it a 133MHz fsb cpu. 11 x 133 for 1463MHz sounds like better performance than 15 x 100 for 1500MHz.

but the processor will be sold on its own also, and so people that cant do 133bus can still benefit from the brute 1.5GHz speed.
;) - Think of the situation 200fsb Athlon/duron owners face in the upgrading field.
AXIA that sounds like my kind of store. Do they seem to know what they are doing there. I hate it when shops don't know much about hardware. They look like one of the first places brining overclocking to the masses.

Lets hope so, since we dont need another Futureshop!:D
Hmm Didnt AMD get after stores that were modding the Slot A Athlons when they were out?
Either way, I wanna know how they got that 15x multi on a friggin duron...

The multiplier is gained from the enhanced bridge layout of the model 7 processors over the model 6 range.
hmm that sounds pretty kool but i dont think most of the people will know they are buying a overclocked or modified 1.3 duron or wont buy it because its DARE I SAY overclocked!!!!! yeah people are still scared of that word.. i was to for sometime to tell u the truth..
