Hey guys. its been a while, been posting here and there. reading allot of the threads. I got bored (its 5am now) and im not tired for some reason so i decided to run 3Dmark 06. i Have SP3 on my xp media center pc, Nvidia drivers 178.13. my computer set up in sig as well as in the screenshot of current clockings.

Want to know what you guys think. I can run some other benchmarks if wanted but wanted to just see what you guys think about my current set up.

I REALLY REALLY want to get a GTX 280 by December but didn't know if i should just save the $439.99 and keep what im running now. well the GTX280 is $439.99 now but also has a $40 mail in rebate so it would be $399.99 but still.

I plan on playing Far Cry 2 ALLOT and also Project origin looks pretty friken sweet and may need something that can handle these games at 1680x1050 and be able to keep 60 fps

You could wait until the games come out and decide if you would want to upgrade then. Prices will have come down slightly as well.

Beats my score of 8706, my cpu is really holding me back. :(

You could try pushing your GPU more like I did.

GT3mich, the OP has a completely different core (G80, 90nm) vs yours (G92, 65nm) and typically will not clock as high given the same cooling solution. 615 isn't great on the core, but the mem and shader aren't bad. I would try upping the core a bit more if possible though. Try forcing your fan to 100% if you haven't already.

Keeping in mind that your GPU core is G80 and mine is G92, for comparisons sake, I would be VERY unsatisfied with that score if it was mine. My 8800GT scores around 13.7k with the specs in sig.

Wait to see how your games run when they come out before you upgrade. That GPU still has ALOT in it to power todays games...so don't rely entirely on synthetic benchmarks.

The 8800gtx should be able to handle the games ok, they should not be as taxing as crysis I do not think, and there is enough memory bandwidth to handle the resolution easily.
