MY Asus P5n72-T Premium says it uses DDR2 1200 (OC). These are the available DDR2 1200's at newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010170147%201052427322&name=DDR2%201200%20%28PC2%209600%29

Any tips on using this speed ram and which ones i should buy? Ive heard many people cant even get them to work on there board. And i know the (OC) stand for overclocked, but what do they mean if you can buy it at that speed.

My mobo has a hard time past 1150...can't tell you about yours. The GSkill 9600 is supposed to be smokin hot. Here is an entire thread talking about results with them:http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=194916
The problem is they're very hard to find.

OCZ Flex are supposed to be pretty nice. Your best bet is to try and find a used pair somewhere, or eBay. I don't think newegg will be getting much new DDR2-9600 since all those kits use D9GKX chips, which AFAIK is out of production now.

Out of production for a bad reason?

The 2x2GB kits use Powerchips.

Do you have Classified access? There is a 2x1GB kit of Buffalo Firestix DDR2-8000 for only $50. Those have D9GKX chips on them. D9GKX chips can hit 1200MHz pretty easily, and can take a lot more voltage then D9GMH can without killing themselves.

Oh , not a bad idea. I think im gonna end up waiting for DDR2-9600 to be available.

Alright, but its not really worth the super premium you'll pay for having sticks labeled as "9600".

True. Well in that case what is the best High Mhz DDR2 for overclocking? And if my board supports DDR2-1200 (OC) does that mean it will support anything under it like DDR2 1100 (PC2 8800)?

Highest rated RAM is DDR2-10000 (only Corsair made it as far as I know). Highest clocking RAM chips are D9GKX. Your board will support all speeds, it just won't auto-set their default speeds.

These should hit 1150: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820146785

I was thinking a higher Mhz, somethin like the highest i could get so there no need to worry about overclocking the RAM. You guys think its worth it?

Your board will support all speeds, it just won't auto-set their default speeds.
So when you say it wont auto set the speeds thats as far as the Mhz, the 4 timings and the voltage? Nothing else like the refresh or anything right ? Cause i dont have knowlegde of those.

Cool thanx. I couldnt find these anywhere. How are those PC2-10040. Any knwoledge on how well they work and the brand name?? Pretty nice speeds. And hows patriot Ram?

I think a lot of PC2-9600 could hit 1300MHz as well if you lowered the timings to 6-6-6-18. If that PC2-10040 kit were 5-5-5-15, well then that would be a different story ;)

Yea I agree. I had my eye on those patriots with the low timings. Hows patriots reputation?

I've only had good experiences with Patriot. Those Patriot Viper sticks look pretty nice. 1200MHz with 5-5-5-12 timings and 2.3v. Only $87 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220348) too!

There was a kit for sale just a few days ago that had confirmed D9GKX chips on them. However it's sold now.

Matched pairs compliment each other better. Those Cell Shocks are outstanding, if they like your mobo. They can be picky.

Yea it would be nice to get some of those OC chips. Im thinkin the Patriot Vipers are they way to go witht he higher Mhz. What kind of chips are in those Vipers and hows the OC potential?

I know those ones are D9GKX, but I need to see if my D9GMH can do 1000 @ 4-4-4-12 with 2.2 first. Gotta load up memtest86 it appears :soda:

Yea im reading that there are two versions of the vipers PC2-9600. One is PVS22G9600ELK and its work with P35 and Nvidia 680i and the PVS22G9600ELKN (same model with N at the end and are colored green) is said to be tested and compatibile with EVGA 680i boards. Will the PVS22G9600ELKN work on my board?
NOTE:I also heard that if it works with 680i it also compatible with 780i chipsets.
