Well, hmmm. Looking at some car forums. Ive found they use intercoolers to cool Hot air. Im wondering If You can do it for a computer? using one of those blowers to go thru the piping, thru the intercooler then blow on to the HSF wonder how good that would work? If used in conjunction with a water cooler, Get cooler Over all air Temps? hmmmmm,

they use these on cars with turbos or superchargers beacuse the incoming air is pressurised and gets hot and needs to be cooled to burn efficently it would not be pratical for this use

I almost agree with the above post ! The air that is run thru an intercooler is cooled to make it more dense and make maximum use of it in the combustion process. This is done in a lot of high performance turbo charged applications.
This is not to say it would not work in a pc but it would not be practical or cost effective for the temp gain you would get .
Now if your talking about water cooling you may call this item an intercooler. Have a look at this thread http://forums.overclockers.ws/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=445850&t=3133#post445850
