36 Accounts on 11 PC's all for the fact that he wanted to create a team to follow orders but they wouldn't so only 1 way create the team..... yourself and play every account.

A bit over the top just by searching and finding the players who might become a team may help but who knows what this guy is like for orders probably the guy out the A-Team or something.

yeah, i saw this a few days ago.

I have mixed emotions about this. Part of me is drooling, knowing that this is beyond the realm of Uber-geek, and thus requires its own classification of geek. But at the same time, I find this really sad/pathetic in a way.

Maybe i'd feel less saddened about this, if he had 36 subscriptions to 36 different MMO's..

Either way, it's still awesome. And hey, the guy has fun and told everyone it's his hobby. Just as i spend a ton of money collecting Final Fantasy 7 and Final Fantasy 8, and Star Wars stuff, this guy spends his money on WoW.

If ya like something, and ya have the money to enjoy it...why not?

if you think about it though, to be able to spend that much he must have a job which means he is doing more with his life than many people. But you have to ask yourself if it is still calssed as a hobby if you have spent the amount of time+money to make 36 accounts worth while.

I kinda feel like he has missed the point! lol

...he is doing more with his life than many people...

I agree that someone capable of this level of multitasking is in a way respectable in and of itself...

However, the flipside: is he accomplishing more with this life?

This equates to someone justifying throwing a ton of money at a casino and walking away with nothing by saying at least they were doing something ^_^.

what I meant was he clearly cannot just be playing wow 24/7 since that costs so much he must have a job etc too, I guess a social life is a figment of his imagination though

Wow, $5711 a year on wow plus the electricity it takes to run 11 computers plus a way to cool them. I want that level of dedication on something.

Ehhh, in all honesty I cannot see ONE person being able to raid. He might be able to manage a 5 man, but there is NOWAY he could do a 25 man, and most likely not a 10 man.

Here's the original thread (w/ pics) on the dual boxing forums: http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=14611&pageNo=1

It's pretty impressive!

Sorry, but this type of thing disgusts me. Don't get me wrong, I love gaming, but there is much more to life than spending all your time playing ONE game. Call it a hobby all you want buddy.... I call it an obsession...an unhealthy obsession.

I went to the guy's website and expected to see some fat balding slob with moobs and shirt stains, not this guy lol.

His gaming setup is slick, I'm impressed.

I think a person that dedicates so much time and money into something like this doesn't necessarily have to hold a job. He may be rich and that is all it takes. Even on this forum, there are a few newcomers who have spent over ten thousand on their setups without blinking.

If you read the beginning of the original thread, it sounds like he only went a little bit beyond what others are doing.

To quote the thread author:
This is not me, I'm just a 5 boxer

That's what's sad to me - not that one man can manage 11 systems (which is pretty neat to think about the skill that must take), but that 5 boxes of Wow is not a big deal.

I fail to see the point in this. There are plenty of people wiling to follow orders.

Wonder what his career is, did you see all the monitors, laptops, keyboards, mice he has? His setup looks insane!!

He is doing to mainly raid city's and for pvp battlegrounds, but he does say he'll try some 25 man content. That is some serious focus fire. Sounds like how I played (not the multiple pc's but loving pvp). Raiding Iron Forge or camping the flight paths and defending crossroads in the first few months of the game was a blast. After a while PVE raiding became about as much fun as going to the dentist.
And they are all SHAMAN!

As one of the commenters to the article said, and I agree, this is an illness, not a hobby.

im personally impressed with the setup.

36 accts is easily manageable with scripts.

im sure he wipes out alot in raids, but then again, he can take all the time he wants without the worry of peopel leaving or AFK.

as for hobby, spending 24/7 or having a life or a job...

i use to run 5 accts back in Everquest and i would farm everything and turn around and sell the items or money online.

may not seem like a big deal, but when your making 4k a month.. easily.. just by playing a game and having fun.

im not saying this is what he is doing, but damn if i was botting 36 accts, i sure would be making some cash on the side by selling items and money.

hell, he could easily make up that 6k he spent on the PCs and the 5K it costs for the year accts, as well as extra $$$ just by doing daily quests and selling that cash to a broker online.

my wife thought i was full of **** when i was doing this, and a FT job.
when the money started rolling in, she hasnt bitched about my gaming, even to this day. when i sold off my accts when i was deployed to Kosovo, 1 acct sold for $900.

I'm sure the people doing 4-6 hour missions a day are now preaching about how "healthy" they are.

Is the setup impressive? Yes, it is a nice setup and works for him but I also agree that a video game shouldn't be the center of your life... I'm not going to say he has no social life because I don't know but I bet he can find a better use of his time. I can't imagine myself even playing WoW for a few hours a day but then again I've never been into RPGs.

sulretal

I do not think we can evaluate how he lives his life. He could only be playing WoW for 2-4 hours per day, which isn't that bad. Who cares anyway, who's to judge him?

Regardless this is pretty cool, though I'd much prefer playing with 6 of my closest friends .

Of course we can say its ridiculous; that's the same as someone else saying its awesome.

But seriously, I've never been that committed to anything in my life.

It's really kinda neat.
It could be streamlined by using fewer monitors and having 6 on a screen, which would reduce the usage to six monitors. If you had one of the nice mobo's with three PCIe slots you could stick a graphics card in each, since cards seem to have dual outputs then you could have all the monitors on one computer. The computer would have to be pretty hefty to maintain that kind of processing, but it would also be a lot cheaper to maintain than the setup he's got.

TheGreySpectre

I think its kind of neat.
I don't really feel like I have the right to judge the guy, Sure he has a lot of accounts, but that doesnt necessarily mean he spends all day playing wow.

That setup is just full of win.

Now we see the definition of WoW OVERCLOCKED!

Here are some of his screen shots:

When the upcoming WoW expansion, Wrath of the Lich King hits the shops he will buy 36 copies of it. Which will add about $1,500 to the cost of his 'hobby'

I'm not judging him on his choice of hobbies. To each their own. Set up's like this is insane. I have never really thought of more then three monitors and two computers for my own personal use. Guess I lead a sheltered life lol. Man that really looks sweet.

oh come on this guy does not play the game for fun this guy just figured out how many losers actually pay ALOT of real money for fake money and leveled up characters in that game so with that setup he has right now he is making some SERIOUS cash there are bots out there not detectable by the game unless you leave it untended for to long so all he has to do is come check up on them every once in a while and puts his **** up for sale after they are leveled up this guy is not a loser/geek/nerd this guy is a ****ing hustler
