So, I have two oldish systems, of which I have to give one away, keeping one as a media computer/server.

Specs are as follows:

Northwood SL6RZ, 2.4GHz (Can probably get it up closer to 3), 512kB L2, FSB133 (533), no HT.
Some ABIT mobo
2GB RAM (DDR400)
::Or::
Barton 3200+ 2.3GHz, 2.3GHz (stock 1.92), 512kB L2, FSB200 (400)
ASUS A7N8X nF2-400
1.5GB DDR333/1GB DDR400 (nForce hates having three slots full, as usual)

I know the Barton does around 200PPD averege (150-300 min/max), running the standard client. I won't have time to bench the Northie, as one's gonna go on Monday or so.

The Barton is going to beat the Northwood most of the time. When Amber (PMD) core WUs are in good supply, it will win by a lot. THe P4 will do about 40 ppd/GHz on all the non-bonus WUs and average about 70ppd GHz on bonus WUs. THe Barton is going to make about 53ppd/GHz on Gromacs and up to 125ppd/GHz on bonus Work. Here's fahmon data on an XP-M @ 2.4 GHz:

Project : 4612
Core : Amber
Frames : 100

-- WS-24 XP-M @ 2.4 --

Min. Time / Frame : 5mn 33s - 308.76 ppd
Avg. Time / Frame : 5mn 37s - 305.09 ppd
Cur. Time / Frame : 5mn 35s - 306.91 ppd
R3F. Time / Frame : 5mn 34s - 307.83 ppd
Eff. Time / Frame : 5mn 40s - 302.40 ppd

The P4 will trounce the Barton on Double Gromacs, which require SSE2 and which the P4 has and the Barton doesn't.
