For those of you that need every mhz you can get ( like me ) I had this idea tonight . I remembered cool cans from drag racing. For those or you who don't know what a cool can is I have attached a pic.

They have come a long way from when I was running cars. The insulation that they have now may make it practical to use for a water cooled pc. You could mount the can outside of the pc and fill it with ice easily. This could be done on just those occasions when you really want to push the CPU.

Keep in mind you could make your own out of a cooler and some tubing and I know many folks have. My point is this is a perfect application and at $90.00 its just easier to buy than make.

For what it is worth, Billy

get an insulated tub from wal mart or kmart, put your radiator in there with ice and voila, a 25.00 solution! I like the cool cans though, they look real effective. what's the style of that radiator they're using? what size fittings are they?

What exactly are these used for ?

If i want to drop my temps I just throw some ICe in my resevoire, simple yet effective.

well, placing ice in the reservoir contaminates the water, depending on what type of water you use. I use 100% deionized and distilled water in my setup ( i get the water from the military..shhh) and a bit of water wetter, so adding ice would trash the ph of the water, as the ice would come from a tap source which contains minerals, bacteria, purifiers, etc. with this setup, you'd be cooling the radiator that contains the coolant without mixing the "bad" water with the "good"

Looks like a good starting point for my super bong idea. A closed cooling loop for the computer, and a seperate tap water loop for the bong shower. Just sink the bong tube into the top of the chest, using the chest as a bong reservior...interesting, very interesting indeed.<scratches chin>

Thanks Billville

or just put your radiator in a refrigerator..... or freezer

I seem to recall that they are used to chill the fuel. Cold fuel, either NitroMethane or Gasoline release more energy upon ignition then warm fuel. Maybe that is because it is more dense, I really don't know.
