Well, Luckily i've built 3 computer's sucessfully without cracking a core.

But... I have the stock amd HSF And Fan on my 1600 xp... And im wondering if i should take the Heatsink off.. I tried to take it off at a lan party, But it wouldnt come off.. I Dont really wanna force it....... And i think ill break it.

Stock AMD Fan

4600 RPM's

Delta Fan

7000 RPM's

I've already posted this already, But what would the temp difference be?

And chance's of me cracking my core?

.... Should i take it to a local comp shop? ....

it shouldn't be hard to take the heatsink off, you will need a flat headed screw driver to take it off. put the screw driver in the clip, push down and push towards the heatsink, it should pull the clip off the lug

and when you have it off geta shim - it goes around the cpu die and reduces the risk of the core craking, get a non-conductive one. i have a tweakmonster purple anodised shim and find it works without interfrearing with heat transfer

you should really replace the stock heatsink, see the review here: http://www.overclockers.com/articles471/

I thought the same thing about possibly breaking mine when taking the HSF off my T-Bird 900. I think I hurt my finger more than I did anything else... it was a real hassle to get that thing off there. I think you would get a good gain in switching them...

Obviously, I Realize i need to replace it.

But.... My temp in my case is about 70F, And im about to install a exhaust blower, Overlocked about 44 Mhz to make 1700, It's running at 100f My CPU. Imagine if i installed a 7000 RPM Delta for 7 Dollar's, rather then having a change of CRACKING MY CORE.

Eternity,

Have you considered using a smaller font as your Sig is huge :)
