I recently bought 2x2gb of OCZ Reapers HPC's DDR2 800 @ 4-4-4-15 2.1V. Ok great, I figured since these sticks are good quality and dissapates heat very well that i would be able to get a good overclock with them (Say to 1066 the least). staying at 2.1V.. I raised the timings to 5-5-5-15 and turned it up to 1066mhz...The Irritating thing is my system didnt Post and my BIOS Resets its settings. I wanna know why it aint accepting the overclock, should i put more voltage to it or what. I know im missing something because these reapers stay cool as can be during heavy load times :)
any help appreciated....

Ok, I read somewhere online that people have achieved up to 950mhz @ 4-4-4-15 2.1v. Some have achieved a little over 1,000mhz with higher timings and slighty higher voltages. So i guess that answered my concern..I was giving a heavy Mhz push with stock voltages and slight timing change, and also since i read that its more of a challenge overclocking the Mhz Ratings on 2x2gb vs. one 1gb stick.
If anyone wants to put some comments on what theyve achieved that would keep this thread alive and id appreciate it, thx.

2.0v should be about as high as you need to go. Try tRFC of 60 and 5-5-5-18. Don't worry about timings until you max out the speed.

Sorry for asking, but ive heard about the tRFC but not know where exactly it is in my BIOS. Ive searched up and down and it still doesnt have it. I have a P5k Deluxe which is an overclockable motherboard. Anyone know where this setting is?

Its the timing w/ the biggest number. Iirc its the 2nd 1 down in the sub-timings section.

ok cool ill check it out once i get my video card back from rma lol. thx tho...But I have another question if anyone can assist, I have 2x2gb sticks...more then enough memory for what i need at the moment, would the overclock be greater if i try to overclock only 1 2gb stick vs. both of them? Or does it depend on one stick itself being 1gb vs. 2gb?

You might be able to get slightly higher w/ 1 stick, but it would be an insignificant amount to warrant giving up dual-channel on your RAM. 2 sticks vs. 4 sticks would be a more pronounced difference, but unless your pushing your FSB to the absolute limit that won't matter much either.
A year ago many of the 1GB sticks OC'd much better than the 2GB sticks b/c those 1GB sticks had D9's in them. But they stopped producing D9's, so it doesn't matter as much now.

yea good info here, I guess i have to notice the difference and judge for myself. But i might just leave my 4gb because Vista x64 is still a freakin Memory Hog! My Win XP Pro is flying by like a breeze on 3.25Gb

update: I just got my comp up n running. I went to overclock the Memory within the Bios, and the settings are not Completely manual to the point where i could input Number by Number. But I had the ability to choose a 960mhz overclock, I raised the Timings to 5-5-5-18 and 2.2V Just in case...and it Completely Post Successfully! Yay! But I still need to test for stability, which ive never done before so hopefully I do it right.

If you want to test just memory stability, download and run memtest86 (http://www.memtest86.com/download.html) and burn it to a CD. It's self-booting and only tests the RAM.

Biostar I45 has memetest86 built into the BIOS :P. But yeah memtest and prime or orthos blend will both test memory.

Cool, Memtest86 is a nice program...it detected a fault in my ram a month or so before my ram went died. Does anyone know the best way to test for stability and how long is a good time to test for each time. im about to test all my ram since im overclocking the 4gbs, but im prolly gonna start with a 2.2 V and go lower on it as stability goes...
