8800 GS better or worse than 8800 GTS 320?

Before I continue, I should note that both of these cards are factory overclocked, and I will not be doing much tweaking of these clock settings.
8800 GS: 680 core, 1600 mem
8800 GTS: 580 core, 1800 mem

I recently RMA'd my failed 8800 GTS to XFX and received an 8800 GS as a replacement. The GTS was an XXX edition, with 320MB mem. The GS is an Alpha Dog edition, with 384MB mem.

I'm trying to figure out if they sent me a replacement "of equal or better performance" than my last card. Does anyone know for sure which one is better? And if so, are there any benchmarks online (or that you have/can run) to prove that? I've searched online, and can't find any comparisons between these two particular cards.

Hmm...actually, I just looked more closely at the GS, and it's not as I described. The core is 580 MHz, and the memory is 1400 MHz. My intuition is that this is bad... 65 nm can't possibly be this much better than 90 nm, right? That's basically the only thing going for the GS.

I would easily take a 8800GTS 320MB over this, it's crippled compared to a GTS.

I guess I'm kinda doubting it's worth going for the GTS 320 over the GS.

Just to clarify: I'm not going to be buying either card. I had the GTS, and it was exchanged under warranty for the GS. So any price differences are irrelevant; I'm looking at performance points only.

Oh, and in case it wasn't clear, the 8800GTS 320MB is one of the older G80 cards, not a G92.

Also, I've spoken to 2 XFX techs about these cards, and they seem convinced that the GS is actually better than the GTS. Maybe they're right, I don't know. I just wasn't sure that the switch to 65nm makes the G92 that much better than the G80 at lower clocks and narrower memory interfaces.

they are pretty equivilant cards... the 8800gs is g92 like stated... has a 192bit buss and 348mb of ram.... 8800gts 320 has 320mb of ram over a 320bit buss...

Thanks for that info but are there any game benchmarks like COD4, Crysis, fallout, oblivion, far cry, stalker etc done by members?

An over-clocked 8800GS puts a run on the 9600GT at 1680x1050 or lower, beats it sometimes. How does an 8800GTS 320 do compared to a 9600GT? I'm willing to bet at 1680x1050 it doesn't do so hot compared to the G92's.

8600? Respecfully, I fail to see the relavance of that link when discussing the difference between an 8800GS and 8800GTS in the 320mb flavor.

@ Op I think the card will work ! the same as your old card .
If you really dont like it you can always sell it NIB and pick up something else there are lots of deals going on .
