Intel processors, does CAS make a difference?

I am running 8GB of Corsair RAM (two 4GB kits; matched pairs, 4-4-4-12 @2.1v for 800MHz - Corsair's own rated speed/voltage)

If I used 1066MHz (5-5-5-15 @ 2.1v), would that be a dumb thing to do?

tighter timings would be better imho, from all my experience they will help you more than that little speed boost will.
