View Full Version : soldering 240v fan onto psu
Hi guys,
Can anyone tell me how to solder a 240v fan or water pump to my 300w psu so that the water pump will turn on automatically when my system is turned on?
Thanks

I don't think that it's possible. You need a relay circuit.
I managed to squeeze a relay inside the PSU that powered itself up when the +12V came on. This relay was connected to the AC power jack and I brought the Hot and Neutral out through one of the slits in the PSU to a terminal block with a plastic protective cover over it. I then cut the AC plug off of my pump and put it on the terminal block. If you lok closely, you can see the green safety ground wire from the pump is lugged to the chassis.
