View Full Version : System Testing (Benchmarks)
Hi,
I would like to test my system to see how the speed is on it. I see a couple of threads that mention programs for benchmarking, Are these somthing you buy or do you download? Thanks Steve
Try SiSoft Sandra (there is a free version and a pay for version)
www.sisoftware.co.uk/sandra about 10M
Or 3DMark 2001 from www.madonion.com about 40M

both of those are your best bets. There is also 3DMark 2000 that you can also benchmark your system with, but I'm not sure if you can still download it.
3Dmark 2000 is still available - but I would only use it if 2k1 doesn't work.
Min system req:
2k
---
P166+
64MB RAM+
4MB graphics+
2k1
-----
P500+ (1G recc)
128MB RAM+ (192MB recc)
32MB 3D accelerator
Thanks for the information on this. I tried to download once (Madonion.com) and it said the file was corrupted and trie again. have not tried again yet. I may have done somthing wrong. Steve

what were your setting that you got that score with?
I just downloaded the program and run benchmark from the main menu and that is the number I got for a score. I overclocked the cpu a little (1.9) and got a score of 6423 but the cpu ran a little hotter. Steve
This program put out some stress on the computer so yes it will run hot.
But 3dmark2001 is really meant for gaming not a CPU benchmark.
Get Sisoft Sandra 2002 and do the CPU, CPU Media, Memory benchmarks, they are the most critical to benchmark.
