If your scared of getting ripped off again go with the 4850 sold by buy.com on ebay. With the 30% off buy it now cash back and possibly 10% off if you got the email it comes out to something like $100 with free shipping
Yep, and the 4850 should perform like something between the 9800GTX and 260..
I would say the 9800gtx but if 50 more bucks isnt a concern definitly the 260.

well i have a 780i mobo and want the possibility to sli...so with this board i'd prefer to stick with nvidia...
if i get an x48 down the road or w/e then i'll def go with the ati...i dont want to cut myself off from upgradeability if you know what i mean...
can i get a buy it now %30 off with a nvidia card? and is the 30% added right then and there or do i have to wait...
how much better is the 8800gts to the 9800gtx? $40 better? how much better is the 260 to the 9800gtx? $50 better?
and btw i'm also in a dispute with buy.com cuz i rma'd my haf 932 cuz it came damaged b4 shipping...and on ups.com its sayin that its been out for delivery since 10/15 of last week...and buy.com is being rude about the situation and is saying to call ups....ups says they can't believe that buy.com wont investigate for me...ups has started there own investigation for me as of last night.....so yea i got ripped off on ebay for 2x evga 260's and another 780i mobo...totaling $521....and then there's my case (haf 932) im waiting for thats $160 on top of that that i still dont have that i ordered 3 1/2 weeks ago =/... so theres $781 out of my pocket that i have nothing to show for...im on the edge of going ballistic
For 50 bucks I mean if your planning to SLI down the line I would just go with a 260. IT is better then the 9800gtx and in SLI its on pair with a 4870X2. And th UPS thing, the tracking system with them sucks , it will get there, may take a few more days.

After getting mine, I'm a big advocate of the GTX260. I got the Core 216 version which cost me around $300, but the regular can't be too far behind in performance. The 8800GTS 512mb is a nice card as well. That's what I had before the GTX260.

so in comparison was it worth it to upgrade honestly?
I had 8800GTS superclocked in SLI a few months ago they aren tbad but for about $30 more for the ones i posted your getting better performance then two 8800GTS

It doesn't work on buy.com through eBay b/c of their check-out system.
I tried a while back when the 30% deal first came out. It warns you before you confirm.

Yea or you can buy 1 GTX260 that is as powerful as any of the two in SLI but that might run you $260.

from the reviews i've seen the gtx260 is only 2-5 fps faster then the 9800gtx...i also game @ 1680x1050
Hmm i dont know how accurate that is. It depends on what card they used, what methods, what games, what resolution. Just for an example, i just was reading a review today that had some banchmarks and a GTX260 was a few frames slower then a 4870X2. So you gotta watch trusting reviews. But you wont go wrong with two 9800GTX's, so its all about how much your gonna spend. At your resolution you shouldnt even need more then a 512mb card or one gtx260. The extra memory wont be used but a dual gpu can benefit (SLI), so maybe the 9800GTX's are the way to go.

ok i got my money back today from being scammed on ebay...is it worth buying a 9800gtx over a 8800gts 512mb? not gtx+ either...i can get the evga 9800gtx for $149 shipped from newegg....or i can pick up a 8800gts bstock or off ebay for around $115..or maybe a 8800gt for around $85-90...which would be the best bang for the buck?

is the 8800gts a g92 core? The g92 core 8800gts is a kick ass card. Only real difference in the 9800 and the 8800 will be that the 9800 will overclock a little more and should run a tad bit cooler. But out of the box both cards are very close in performance!

The 8800GTS-512 and 9800GTX are just about on par except the 9800GTX's RAM might OC a little more. You can get an 8800GTS-512 off of eVGA B-Stock right now for $99. I think that's the best bang4buck. Slightly faster RAM is not worth another $50.

yea when i look at evga's b stock i dont see any 512mb 8800gts's anymore..if u do can you link me? ... i currently have a bfg 8800gts and the memory doesnt even get to the gtx stock speed...but how much more performance does the ram speed give you? i was able to bet my core to 775 i believe and shaders to 1900

They seem to have taken a lot of items off of their B-stock page...
Buy this used GTX 260 for $180 from a good OCN'er

1.) Make an Account
2.) Prove that you are a trusted buyer (ebay rep, etc)
3.) Buy the card
4.) ?????
5.) Profit
I say this because I personally think PNY make garbage products and EVGA is definitely the best Nvidia partner and their Customer Service is amazing.

With GTX 260/280 cards, they pretty much all come out of the same factory in China. With these cards you are really buying the bundle, customer service, warranty and binning.
NOTE: If you prefer new/unused cards, you can get a GTX 260 for $200 AR with FarCry2 if you shop around (and I'm not talking Ebay either). Otherwise, $180 with no rebates to hassle with seems pretty good to me.
