Hi there,

I just purchased an XFX GTX 280 XXX, and I'm wondering how to go about getting myself a TV output. I understand I can get a component cable for this, but will that allow 1080p? Is it common for a TV to support such a cable (the TV in question is a Samsung series 6 LCD).

Thanks very much.

why not just go with a DVI to HDMI converter dongol (they look very similar to a DVI to VGA dongol) because DVI (hdmi) will look MUCH better than component.

heck you could go with a cable check it.

i have a samsung 7 series and i use a cable like the ones linked above...

Thanks a lot man.

Yeah, I don't suppose there is any way around it. I was kinda hoping on having a two monitor setup with the minimum of messing around to switch outputs though.

2 monitors... no prob just connect one monitor to each dvi port.... the tv will act directly as a monitor using a dvi to hdmi cable.

Do you mean 2 monitors AND a 1080P TV hooked up at the same time?

Well, yeah, that sort of setup. I know I can have one or the other (two monitors or one monitor and one 1080P TV) but if somehow I could save on the changing of cables repeatedly, that would be good.

Well you should be able to use the little component dongle that comes w/ the card to get component out. Technically component can carry 1080p, but the HDCP probably won't allow it. Most TVs will not accept 1080p over component. You'll have to settle for 1080i, but once you see the difference b/n 1080i over the video card component cable vs. 1080p over DVI-HDMI I think you'll want to stick w/ 1080p.

You might be able to get an HDMI switch...

how about a second gfx card to run 3 monitors over dvi at once?

They're called KVM switches and would require no unplugging.
