Interesting article about the new shooter and the video cards out there. It also includes ATI video cards.

makes crysis just look so bad
i havent really seen farcry 2 graphics quality though, maybe its less spectacular as crysis was?

it is less spectacular than Crysis, but not by much

it doesn't use the same engine as crysis as far as i know, it uses the "Dunia" engine

seems weird to me that the 9800GX2 got really low FPS, the 8800 GTS that i have, got better FPS...unless is a driver issue...

Probably driver issue, as it is a BETA driver they are using I think (as it hasn't been released). Surprised to see the gtx280 ahead except at the maximum resolution, and I think my two 8800gts should be good enough for 1920x1200 with good settings as they can perform ahead/on par with a gtx280.

This chart makes me very happy I bought a GTX260.

I just noticed from that chart you posted - look how low the hd4870 is! I thought that was the 4850 as it was on par with the 9800gtx+, and it even falls behind on extreme resolution. Seems to me nvidia have got the support for this game over ati bar the 9800gx2...

The 4850 and the 4870 appear to catch up at lower resolutions. Seems memory (size) related since both are 512MB versions (compared to the X2 performance which are 2 4870 1GBs).

Yeah, it looks like this game needs lots of vRAM. Any card w/ less will suffer if you push the settings, and even SLI'd or x-fired setups w/ 512MB cards will probably suffer a bit as well. They'll have the GPU power, but the lack of vRAM will cause the card to stall as it waits on data.

Too bad they don't have a HD3870x2 on that chart. Anyone know how it would do?

This set of benchmarks paints a slightly different story - link (http://www.pcgameshardware.com/aid,664322/Reviews/Review_Geforce_18042_Far_Cry_2_runs_30_Prozent_fas ter/?article_id=664322&page=2).

It also seems as though a Quad Core will help boost FPS if conditions are right - link (http://www.pcgameshardware.com/aid,663817/Reviews/Far_Cry_2_GPU_and_CPU_benchmarks/?article_id=663817&page=2).

The 3870X2 should (assuming xfire scales) score near a 4850 (whether above or below, I'm not sure).

Anyone else notice an HD 4830 in there? :)
Should be pretty good for its price I reckon.

Grrr my 8800GT doesn't look like its going to cut it for that much longer.

No max details for me :(

That's at 1920x1200 though. 512MB cards do significantly better at 1680x1050 and lower.

lol I love how the 8800Ultra is still up there, despite its age.

In the other benchmarks the GTX260 is still ahead by quite a few fps. Also the HD4870X2 does alot better with the newest driver compared to an older one. The new drivers look like they are really optimised for the game and both ATi and Nvidia seem to be trying alot to beat each other.
