I got a new cooler last week (Xigmatek Battle-Axe VD964 Twin VGA Cooler (http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=579849)) for $9 shipped AR, and seeing as how my HR03GT is on my 4850 I decided to put the new cooler on my 8800GTS-512 that's sitting in the closet w/o a HS on it. My 8800 has always been better than my 4850 at 3DMark06, so I decided to take advantage of the cooler weather, and see what she could do!
The first thing I did was mount the cooler. At first I bent the heatpipes up a little to fit some slightly larger RAMsinks on those 2 RAM chips. Then I decided to bend them some more to fit some sinks that would match the rest. :screwy:

I opened the windows, turned on the ceiling fan, and put my jacket on. After a few hours I realized this cooler wasn't as good as my HR03GT (duh!) as I wasn't able to get the same clocks I was getting w/ the HR03GT, and adding more voltage only seemed to make things worse. I settled at 1.36v-idle (load was going up to 1.43v).
Still, I was able to pull some respectable numbers, and I'm sure having a better/faster CPU helped a little as well.
My new high score! 18,643

I might try to switch coolers again at some point and shoot for 19k, but that seems like a lot of work for a few hundred points. Not bad for a $9 cooler!
