This maybe of help to you.
HD4870 LEDs
D1601 - Red LED On, shows critical temperature fault
D1602 - Red LED On, shows External power connector A was removed
D1603 - Red LED On, shows External power connector B was removed
D601 - Red LED On, shows critical Core power fault
At BOOT/POST, the card's fan will spin @ 100% for a short while and 3 of the 4 LEDs will light up for a brief period and then go out. This is NORMAL behavior as the card is performing it's own type of POST test.
So I guess if they're staying on, that indicates a power problem or if 601 your overheating...

I know what the LED's are for, this was happening then all of a sudden it isnt happening.....
The last post in the thread, I moved the card once a few days ago and the same thing was going on.
Tonight I moved the card back to original slot where it had been all along, and now it;s working fine......

Yeah I always won't to know why stuff happens as well. Maybe different power cables are connected to the card or in a different order. If it fails again check with a MB monitor 12V is staying over 11.4V under load.

Been watching the voltages all evening under varying levels of load and according to Everest, cause I dont fell like playing with DMM, but it didnt move from 12.1
