In two different boxes I have video cards that have the stock fans on them which are dying. (bad bearings)
These fans are inset into the heatsink in kinda goofy ways and I have no clue where I would find replacement fans.
So, two questions:
Where would I find strange fans like this?
or, How do I convert the existing heatsink/fan combo to something I can use stock fans on?
The two cards in question are:
1) Creative Lab GeForce 256 Card.
2) Diamond Voodoo Banshee based card.
Thanks.
Ive never seen them for sale.
Those flat heatsinks dont work too great anyway.
Id replace the heatsinks with thermaltake orb coolers or very thin rackmount CPU coolers.
They will give better performance and (with the rackmount) ones you can easily replace the fans.

Orbs are just as bad as the flat sink coolers. You're better off with an Alpha Wingfin even than one of those...
For attatching a sink, use silicone glue in the corners and Arctic Alumina for the core. That way you run no risk of killing the card :), and it's removable later.

Try a Tennmax Lasagna cooler for the videocard.
If your video card has like pins to put a GPU cooler in then I would get the Crystal Orb if not still get the Crystal Orb with Arctic Allumina Adhensive.

Do GPU actually have like socket ears for the mounting system to work?
And how much cfm does that fan push?
