Pioneer DVR-212 picks up DVD's? but not CD's??WTF

ive just formatted by computer and reinstalled windows and everything is working fine except for my DVD drive????? it ca read DVD's fine but not CD's? there all brand new s it cant be the disks and ive updated the drivers to the latest version but still wont budge??

has any one had this problem before? im stumped as ive unistalled it and installed it but i screwed as to what to do.......

can some one give me some advise?

cannot detect as in cannot detect blank cd's or are these installation CD's? If they are blanks, try other brand of blanks as it could be incompatible media. What are you using to read them with (or write if that is the case)?

I believe they use different lasers to read/write cd/dvd's with so it makes sense.

well it is fully not working now started playing up after new install of windows. wont pick up CD Roms, DVDS,or CD'S. Only had bout six months.
