If you have a small PSU, Or you have a fan that is over 5500 Rpms, and you dont rely on the motherboard 3 pin, And switch to 4 Pin. Here's what you can do.
It's kinda cool.... Espiecally if you dont have good power.
You need about 10 Dollars.
A Ride to Radioshack
- You need the following
Toggle Switch
Battery Pack (12v)
Delta 7000 RPM 38CFM (Or your HSF)
Line Extendor
RPM Monitor
Eletrical Tape
When you get home, You will have a 3 pin adaptor to your motherboard, But in reality there's only 2 cables. Cut the fan cord a little, When you see a little bit of a copper. From the wire that you got from radioshack, Rap it around, and apply with eletrical tape. Now you should have your HSF Cord, And the Cord you got from Radioshack, rapped w/ Eletrical tape. Run that cord to your toggle switch. Get one of the plastic cover's from your case, Cut a hole the measurement of the toggle switch. Next, Put the toggle switch into it. Now with the battery pack, 6 1.5Volt Batterys = 12v = The requirement for Delta fans, And many others. After you got the toggle switch cord, Run a cord from the battery pack, to the toggleswitch, and rap it around the cord going to the delta, so they will meet together. With your computer off, Flip the switch off and on, Make sure there's a firm connection... With your RPM montior, If your RPM'S Ever get real low, Flip the switch, And you got 7000 RPms solid, After about 10 minutes, Flip it off, And go back to your normal power.
Also, You should not have your delta connected to your motherboard, You will eventually fry it. Just saying if you did, You need a 3 to 4 Pin adaptor.
It's not really well explained, and obviously im not the best teacher, But it's a cool idea.
