In win 9x, if you wanted to find out your ip adress, all you needed to do was type in "winipcfg" in the run box. This does not work in 2k/xp. What i am essentially asking, is where is the program to find my own ip adress out?
Go to a command line and type in IPCONFIG.

you know the little computer icon in the taskbar that appears when you're connected, double click on it. I hope that's what you were looking for.

c:\>ipconfig will give you your basic ip information.
c:\>ipconfig /all will tell you all your ip information.
c:\>ipconfig /release will release you DHCP assigned IP addy
c:\>ipconfig /renew will renew your ip addy with the DHCP server
There are other switches to the command, but these are the most used.
Kingslayer just did your homework for you. The winipconfig in NT Kernal is more of a Linux way and it is done manually by you not the application.
