I'm having problems connecting any kind of router to the DSL Modem.
Here is what is confusing me .. whenever I connect the computer straight to the DSL Modem, I have internet.
It seems as though the modem doesn't like anything type of router hooked up to it.
I have tried 2 types of Routers.
Linksys 4 Port Switch
D-Link DIR-625 Wireless N Router
Would there be any particular settings I should look for that would deny access to the router? I've checked through the Windows Firewall and disabled their Norton Internet Security.
Any ideas? Help would be much appreciated.
So did you setup PPPoE connection on the router, input email and password, and saved settings. Also try power cycling after saving settings, both modem and router. Sometimes settings on the modem needs to be changed in regards to where PPP is hold
By the way switch is not a router.

I just used the Quick Setup on the CD and it can't initialize an internet connection.
Should I manually setup the router in the installer?
I tried powercycling with no luck.
By the way, thank you for the quick reply.

you say you have tried 2 types of routers, but a switch is NOT a router.
make sure the modem is plugged into the WAN port on your router, your pc is on a LAN port and reboot the modem. log into your router and manually make the changes to accommodate your setup. i hate those stupid 'quick setup' wizards. what do you learn using it?

Meionm is correct. Set your router up with PPPoE and input your password. You'll also want to log into the modem itself and put it in bridge mode. I think if not in bridge mode, you will get double natting.

Dang you guys are good. PPPoE then insert user name and password. That's what I was going to say if I had been able to say it first. Love this group. I really love this group of geeks. :soda::drool:
