What is the best program for monitoring CPU temperatures as I don't have the disk that came with my mobo any more (kt7-a). I need to see how my overclock is getting on under load.

VIA Hardware Monitor (VIAhm) is what i use and it is what came with my motherboard which is the same one as you.
i found a link to download the zip file but i'm not gonna upload the whole file due to my concern for the bandwidth.
here's the link to the zip: http://www.soyousa.com/drivers/HWDoctor/viahwmon(r)205.zip
if that doesn't do what you want it to you can download motherboard monitor which is supposed to be awesome too: http://www.hatman.com/mbm/MBM418.zip
hope you have some luck.
jeff
I have motherboard monitor and sometimes it displays goofy numbers like when at idle it shows 35C and sometimes 40C(if thats true, I have to change some things around)and sometimes it shows for the cpu fan: 0rpm and sometimes 33,000rpm:eek:

i guess VIAhm is best for your specific mobo then. its never given me any problems (besides giving me temps i'd rather not see :p)

MotherBoard Monitor has my vote it gets the temperature straight from the bios and is very accurate in taking those temperatures.

I use vcool and Mother Board Monitor. Both work fine and actually display the same temps.

I'm on windows XP and viaHM comes up with a "driver error" when I try to run it. Motherboard Monitor works fine, but says that the temperature is about 27C on my tbird 1200 o/c to 1333! I dont think that's right!

i have that exact same OC on my t'bird with a delta 38cfm screamer and the idle is usually at about 87 F which is about 35 C if i remember correctly. so unless you'r running mad aircooling or something that's probably not right. but if it is, kudos!
jeff
*edit*- doh! i forgot my temps are in my profile. 30 C is my idle, so if you're at 27 i wouldn't see that as out of the ordinary. maybe you have a tad better cooling than me or are in a cooler room, who knows :p but i wouldn't dismiss the 27C temps. good job!

98SE. Does an excellent job of lowering cpu temps wit the NB cool bit

I'm pretty sure 27C is wrong, because if I restart and go straight into the CPU health in the BIOS it tells me that the temperature is 36C and it should have cooled down a bit before it gets there right?
