Some got on my caps while cleaning the chip. I didn't notice and now it has hardened onto it so it doesn't come off if i scratch it with my nail. Or should I just leave it?

How should I clean hardened AS off a solid capacitor on my MOBO?

I've had that happen before. I simply got a cue tip with rubbing alcohol<--- very important because its not conductive to electricity, and rubbed off the paste. It may take some patience though. Then let it air dry and your ready to go

Isopropyl alcohol has almost no impurities and should desolve it w/ Q-Tip.
You can get it at Radio Shack or most any electronics department.
With all respect to above post rubbing alcohol may work but will leave a residue.

Funny... I thought isopropyl was rubbing alcohol haha. Thats what I meant at least.

Well, some rubbing alcohol is scented and might leave an oily residue. But your right, the main ingredient is isopropyl alcohol.

That sounds expensive.
I just get the 90% Isopropyl from Walmart for a dollar.
