I need a simple,free FTP program

I have never messed with an ftp before and would like to try my hand at it . I would like any advice that you all have,I am gonna run it on one of my lan machines and maybe host some benchmarks,tweaks ,etc. Thanks in advance for all the replies.

I had never used much less set up an FTP server and I was able to easily set up GuildFTP (http://www.tucows.com/search?language_id=1&platform_id=1564,1565,1584,1569,1570,1571,1645&site_detail_id=653&type=exactany&search=ftp&query_limit=45&orderby=&file_size_min=&file_size_max=&license_id=&ref=http://www.tucows.com/&records_per_page=15&sortorder=&show_all=) . It freeware as some of the others metioned are shareware and it got 5 cows fron TUCOWS on ease of installation and options. Highly recommended for a noob.
