View Full Version : PlexWriter 16/10/40A can't read CD

I've got the above writer, which I did have on this system with ME. I'm trying XP and in the process have lost a lot of data. The CDRW's were made in me with DirectCD, which won't run on XP without an upgrade. The version of DirectCD came on my Plextor disk, but when I try to update it it won't. For a fee Plextor will send a disk, Nazi's.

So I've got 2 disks that were made with DirectCD. In XP it shows there is so much space used but won't show any files. To top it off on a spare computer with DirectCD it won't read it either.

Are both my CD's bad, however that would have happened. or is a DirectCD issue. It let me make one disk into one that could be read in a regular drive, still didn't help.

Wife going to kill me when she realizes for the good of upgrading I've lost a lot of data.

Ideas?

Well I heard DirectCD has issues but why did you use the Data Creator thing?

I tried DirectCD once and it was just bad..

Does DirectCD cut from the HDD and you loose it completely?

try nero.. i have that same writer i think.. but nero works fine for me..
easy cd5 wont find my plexy tho..
but nero has a good demo, and its only 30 bucks i believe..

DirectCd was packaged with the other 2 CD writers I've had. I had always thought that it was needed to drag and drop onto the burner.

Still doesn't make sense why I can't see the data on the disk.

try nero.. if it doesnt pick it uo, then it wasnt burned right.. its happened to me a few times

i have the same burner, easy cd 5, and nero, and haven't ever had a real problem with any of them.

Easy CD Creator 5 + the DirectCD was the ticket. I can again read and right to the CD's I'd been using before.

well thats good.. i guess ezcd5 just didnt like 2k pro, or i might of not patched it right.. oh well heh
