View Full Version : xp hangs when installing raid card
grrr ok this is making me mad, xp wont install my raid card :(
when i have it pluged in and i start xp it wont install, the add new hardware icon on the bottom just stays there :(
its an iwill raid card and it tries to install the highpoint drivers (the card has the highpoint chipset)
and it wont let me install the drivers off the iwill disk
help please
I believe at the start of the installation you will have to identify which kind of card it is and probably get the drivers for it on a seperate disk.

You going for a clean install or a upgrade?
Because I know in clean install when you start with the bootdisks its says like PRess F3 if you have a third party raid or SCSI controller and stuff
clean install
ill just try installing the card that way, hopefully it works :)
Success! the raid card works but a new probelm has surfaced
i cant seem to install the drivers for this.
i tried installing the 4n1 drivers but it gives me some error jibberish

any ideas?
dose the raid card need the busmaster drivers? The highpoint controller dosen't use them on my KT7A-raid with XP and I don't think 98 used them either.

i dont *think* it needs them
i have one drive connected to the raid card right now and it reads and writes to the drive just fine.
im just using the raid card as a controller card right now cuz i dont have enough space in my case for another hard drive (new case at the end of next week). so i cant really test out raid yet but as a controller card it works fine.
its just really annoying that windows tries to search for the bus master drivers every time i start windows
