it should hold it's own, pending on in game detail settings a 4870 in Xfire or a X2 are basically the same thing, i say just Xfire the cards instead of trying to sell your 4870 to get an X2, BUT first i would wait until you get the LCD to see how it performs

I run 1920x1200 with my 3870 and it does very well with COD 4 on max, and Fallout 3 high settings, and Age of Conan on the high settings.

I've got a 4870X2 and run 1920x1200 and haven't met a game I couldn't max except for Crysis. I run Crysis on all high settings at 1920x1200 and get 45-50fps or so. I got the X2 mainly for the extra memory per GPU and it has performed very well so far.

yea, even without the monitor upgrade i was going to go CF so i might just sell my card (or swap it down to the wifes pc and sell her 8800gt) then buy a 4870x2.

ya the 1G per card helps at high res, and now the 4870 has a 1G version.
