Right now all I can get my 4850 to overclock at is 660mhz, I still have the stock fan on it and it's set at 55%. If I buy a new cooler for my card will it help me overclock it more? Right now it's at stock voltage and I don't think I'll ever volt mod it.

Currently it idles at 54 degrees and at load its at 64

Those temps are not bad at all. I don't think it would, unless your current settings were causing it to overheat, which their not. Trying a different bios with higher voltages settings might do the trick. I got a 4870 so I don't know which 4850 bios have been giving the best OC.

I tried flashing the bios of mine to add more voltage but it didn't even do anything to help me overclock :(

You don't need a better cooler, you only got the fan speed at 55%. Turn that baby to 100%, thats what speakers are for. And the new CC is pretty smart it will drop the fan speed when it's not needed so when you go to sleep or something you won't have a ton of noise.

i tried setting it at 100% but the noise kills me, im on the 8.11 beta's and when my gpu is idle it still makes a ton of noise. is there a way to make it go 100% when im running a 3d program?

I'm using 8.10's and my fan speed will drop when I'm not pushing it. Fan seems to be the loudest in Crysis Warhead, then not far behind that on Fallout 3, and WoW it's practically off I swear and I'm running mine at 100% fan with a much louder fan on mine http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121272

It is loud in Crysis but I usually have the sound cranked and I can't hear nothing else :)

I guess it's that fan you have because mine stays at 100% all the time if i set it at that.
