testing hard drive question.

Hey I dont have windows install nor do i have a 3 1/2 floppy on my computer but i think i have a bad hard drive. whats the best way to test it? I cant get windows to install with out throwing a error so thats what makes me think its bad.

is this on an older comp... i had a problem where windows wouldnt install on a drive over 37 gb or something like that due to LBA or something like that on a pata drive.

I would download the ultimate boot cd theres bound to be a good hd scanning utility on there.

You can get a bootable CD image of whatever drive manufacturer's diagnostic software you need at their respective site.
