Think I need a new MB

I have the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R. It's in the PC I built last summer, when I built my first PC ever.

I want to upgrade my Ega 7600GT to a 9800GTX, but the MB I have now doesn't support PCI Express 2.0.

I also plan to get the E8400. I also have 2x1GB Crucial Ballistix PC2 6400 RAM which I plan to keep.

What is the next step up from the GA-P35-DS3R ? I want to stick with Gigabyte.

What you have will work fine but I've heard good things about the EP45-UD3R

there is no need to get a new board unless you need one or want one. pcie 2.0 will revert to 1.0. just like agp 8x cards can run agp 4x if that is all the board supported.

That and the 9800GTX comes nowhere close to maxing out a 16x 1.0 lane.

right its barly using over x8 bandwidth... im sure the GTX280 get closer to x16 1.0 spec.
