Sorry if this is really noob, but yes I did try to search, but I admit I'm not exactly sure what I am searching for. In trying to set up a Call of Duty 4 Server I don't know how to find the port address to put after my IP so people can find the server?

28960
they shouldnt have to use the port to find your game.... 28960 is default... do you have the port forwarded in your router?
or you can feel free to use one of my clans 3 servers......2 of them are empty most of the time...only one we keep pretty full

Here lately it seems like the server list never lists all of them, so that could be the case. When left blank it defaults to 28960 and he couldn't pull up my server. And thanks for the offer

are you doing this over the internet or on your private lan only?
do you have any firewalls running on the pc that his hosting the game (server) ?

ok cool,
what you need to do is log into your router and set up a port map to the ip address of the server on your lan that is hosting the game.
for example on my home router, i need to "create a service" - this is just typing in the port number in the box listed, and giving it a name.
the next step is to go to the firewall rules, or access rules, and assign that service or port you have just defined to the private ip which is your cod4 server.
p.s. cod5 demo is out on xbox (and its 100% online, with all weapons, you might as well not buy the game but just play the demo its that good)
oh if you want help with the router you can post the model number back here and i can google the menus for it
