raid 0 speeds

I recently moved from a bunch of ide drives to two sata 300 drives in raid 0, and I just don't think the transfer speeds are what they should be. with everest I can say that I average 140 megabytes random read. Not sure what to expect, I'm using the onboard raid controller on a gigabyte ga-x38-dq6. Is this right?

Taking the general performance of current 300-320GB drives, that rating sound on target.

yup, i had 3 x 80G drives and i hit around 183Mb average with a peak of 211MB.

hope you have some backups made of important data.
