Specs:
Q6600+Asus p5q(overclocked to 3.66ghz@1.39vcore)
7 Fans(30W)
1Sata 1 Ide drive 1 dvdrw drive
4gb DDR2 ram(2sticks)
AtiHD4850(running at 100% fan speed)

I did read the sticky...the tools reporting i need over 600W for these specs tho....Anyone know if its safe to continue running on my 500W psu?I can run P95 for 4hours without errors but sometimes my psu gives me a static buzzing sound(tested with only the mobo plugged in...no fan etc)

What 500W PSU do you have? If it's a brand OK you're fine, if it's a craptacular one you're not so OK. :)

Which one in particular? Andyson make a wide range of units with varying quality. ;)

An andyson 500w is not sufficient.

Go for a corsair 550vx, or shoot for the sky (futureproof) with a 750tx

you should be fine with anything over 600W for sure. Go for a corsair 550vx, or shoot for the sky (futureproof) with a 750tx. Definetly go for a corsair one though. :)

Actually a good 500W PSU should be fine - I'm guessing you might be pulling about 300-350W from the wall. Look at my sig - I have an OC'd X3210, OC'd 4 gig (1gigx4) DDR2, 5 hard drives, 1 optical drive, 6x120mm fans, a tv tuner card, and an 8800GT SC. My APS unit says that I'm pulling about 200-250W (maybe 300W under full load), but I was lucky and got a low vid of 1.21. I have an earthwatts 500W, and do F@H 24/7.

Many people (mostly 16 year old gamers) tell you to get 1000W PSU's - you don't need it unless you have 3xSLI with a high end card and a oc'd quad. Optimum efficiency for a PSU is when it is under 50% load.
