A little write-up of how to mod a 7800GTX without spending a great deal of cash. Requested by Gibbo3771:
AS USUAL - YOU MODIFY YOUR CARD AND BIOS AT YOUR OWN RISK. I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE. I WOULD URGE YOU TO READ READ READ BEFORE YOU PROCEED TO DO ANYTHING YOU ARE UNSURE OF. IF YOU FEEL OUT OF YOUR DEPTH, DO NOT DO IT.
To modify the stock cooler, follow this picture:

(EDIT: Make sure the fan does not go over the EDGES of the cooler)
The best fans i found to use were the ones that went on old socket939 stock coolers - But any high CFM fan will work.
It would take a long time to extract and re-write everything this thread has covered - so i will just link to it. It has a lot of useful information and is well worth reading the entire thread before you proceed. I have used these BIOSes before, and found the information invluable.

Its also worth noting that this particular card has memory chips on the back of the card as well - so dot forget to add sufficient cooling if your going [retty hard on the memory - I used to lay a 90mm fan (leaning at an angle on the CPU cooler) over the chips to blow cold air over, but you may be more inventive than me.
