Firewire Network

I wanted to set up a firewire network with win2k, but I wanted to know if it works before I spend $60 on cables. I know it works in winxp, it recognizes the IEEE1394 card as a network adapter. I would like to be able to do this without purchasing any extra software. Anyone set this up?

You should check the KB @ microsoft.com first, to see if Windows 2000 will like a IEEE1394 network.
