Overclocking OEM machines like a Dell is nearly impossible. There are a few guides on how to do it using PLLs and what not. Only seen guides for desktops though and they are very risky plus you have to remove mobo and see the PLL numbers. I doubt you'll find any way to do it, and if you do, it won't be worth the risk.

Not only that, but when you overclock a laptop of all things with their massively inferior cooling capacity without having a reference like a friend who already did it and has been stable for six months its just too dangerous- even if you pulled it off the performance increase wouldn't be worth the work.

That all depends on the laptop. I am using my i9300 that I bought three years ago and I have an overclocked processor and video card in it. Yes, it gets warm when gaming, but it gets used more for checking emails than anything else. I am actually looking at one of those mini book computers to replace it for that reason.
