Hi. For some reason my 3DMark vantage keeps quitting in middle. Does anyone know what's wrong?
I ran it fine on this same system, the only difference is that i installed Vista Ultimate x64 as opposed to 32 which I used to have. Does 3DMark Vantage have problems with Vista 64? If so, is there a fix?
My graphics card is an 8800gt. See other details in my sig.
Thanks in advance!

I would post this in the 3DMark (http://www.ocforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=146) section, you'll get more replies. I run vantage in vistaU 64 without issues. At what point does it crash, in the middle of a bench? You could try re-installing it, or your drivers. Could it be your OC?

I don;t know the rules about double posting. Can I post this again in the 3DMark section? Should I link to this (or the other way around)?
I got some new hardware so I reset the bios, so I have no OC. Also, Prime95 ran for over 10 hours with no problems, so it's doubtfully a stability issue.
The first time it crashed towards the beginning, after the second test or something. The other 3 times it crashed after the waving futuremark flags test.
I tried reinstalling the 1.0.1 patch and still had the problem. Do you think I should uninstall and try again from scratch?

It may be worth a reinstall. Also try changing your drivers to a different version. As far as double posting: repost in the 3dmark section, and make a reply here with a link to the new thread. Or PM a mod to have the thread moved, thats the cleanest way.

Your PCI-E bus may be unstable.

Does it crash with an error shown? Crash with a frozen screen? Re-start the rig? VPU Recover? More details would be helpful.

Different things have happened.
Twice the screen went blank after a test, which is normal, but it didn't come back up after (I left it for like 20 min.). I got my computer running again when I hit the Start button, but I got a message that the user stopped the program (3DMark Vantage).
Once it came back up but had a miniature version of my desktop within the larger one. I couldn't access the smaller version. I got it normal when I ended the processes related to 3DMark.
One time I got a message that something with C++ runtime error. I checked the Futuremark website, they had something like this (but getting the error at startup not in the middle) and said to download the hotfix 1.0.1. I already had it, but I tried to reinstall it... no help. They also said it might be caused by a gpu that's not DX10 compliant, but i have a GeForce 8800gt, so that can't be the problem (it also worked before my x64 install).
I uninstalled 3DMark Vantage but haven't had a chance to reinstall yet. I'll let you know if that solves the problem. If you have anything else I can try anyway...

Is Windows up to date? Might not have anything to do with 3DMark at all. Can this rig run all the other 3DMarks? prime95 or similar ok?

Windows is fully up to date.
I've run 3DMark 06 countless times before and since this problem. I've run Prime95 for over 50hrs. since this problem (in about 10hr. increments besides for a 20hr. stretch).

What Preset? All of them? Hopefully the re-install will fix it.

Hey. Thanks guys, sorry I've been so long. I was very busy.
The reinstall seems to have done the trick! Thanks for all the help!
