so anyways, i got this generic barebones off of pricewatch.
It's got a via kt133gt mobo, case, etc.
My budget for a proc. is about 50 bucks. the mobo can take an athlon/duron up to 1 ghz.... so my question is would you guys recommend an athlon 900 w/200fsb or a duron 1ghz w/200fsb? they're roughly the same price.
do you guys have any recommendations/knowledge of this mobo? ever overclocked with this combo?
My other question is about pc 150 ram.....is this just a bit speedier version of pc133? will most pc133 mobos support it?
I understand cpu overclocking but this ram overclocking has me mystified so any help would be greatly appreciated. for the price will i notice a speed improvement over pc133 with this stuff?
thanks for your help, guys.

I would said go with Athlon 900 due to the fact that it have a larger caches on the CPU.
Check this site out and you'll see.
it doesn't show Athlon 900 but it show Athlon 1000.
you should be able to ge the idea since they show Athlom from 1000-1400. The 900 will be between A1000 and D1000

ABOUT the RAM.
I don't think other PC133 mobo will support 150.
why don't just go for DDRAM.
hope this help.
- I would go athlon they are generally faster.
- RAM does get overclocked if you increase the FSB eg my RAM does 141MHz when my FSB is 106.
- Pc150 is RAM for pc133 mobos that can cope with speeds of 150MHz+ for high FSB Overclocks. I think it is generally more expensive tho.
- I haven't heard of the VIA kt133gt. I am sure kt133 is the chipset and perhaps it is an OEM mobo.
- I have never heard of this mobo, but a kt133 chipset I think supports up to a 115FSB I think.
Good Luck!

Are you sure thats the motherboard? Who makes that board can you post a link?
I agree go with the athlon the 1ghz seem to OC very well. As for the ram Pc 150 will work, why don't you also post the brand your looking at.

also, i was talking to a guy at a local computer store, he says there shouldn't be any reason why this mobo won't run a duron 1.2ghz. I couldn't seem to find any info about a 12x multiplier like he was talking about though.....
hope this helps a little bit.
