fan,mobo question :)

I have an Vantec cpu cooler for my athlon,I run power to it directly from the ps,not the mobo,can I attach just the yellow wire from the fan to the cpu fan plug on the mobo and see fan speed still?

Yes.

Sidewinder (sidewindercomputers.com) sells a fan cable just like what you're describing. Powers the fan off of the PSU but still lets you connect the RPM wire to the mobo.

yes, i have done it to all fay fans and added a switch to change from 7 to 1 volts

ya,it works great,I bought another fan harness and made my own adaptor for the sensor wire,and it works fine,thanks... :)
